This year, we organised two fundraising events: our annual golf challenge and a charity dinner hosted jointly with our sister lodge, the Liberty of Havering. The selected beneficiaries for both events were the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) and the Sickle Cell Society (SCS).
In an earlier communication, we reported that the golf event raised £872. Rather than allocating this amount separately by sending interim payments to the charities, it was decided to retain these funds until after the charity dinner.
The charity dinner took place at Ingrebourne Links Golf & Country Club, the same venue as
our 2025 golf event. We targeted 100 guests and were pleased to welcome 95 attendees,
including representatives from both lodges.
Alongside the generous donations received for the raffle, we organised a Silent Auction
featuring three exclusive items: the use of a four-bedroom house on the Norfolk Broads for one week, a meal for two at a distinguished private club in London, and a Four Ball at Ingrebourne Links Golf & Country Club.
The evening commenced with brief presentations about the nominated charities—firstly, the Sickle Cell Society by Ian Joseph, followed by the Motor Neurone Disease Association by Eddie Boyton. Despite a few minor issues on the night, attendees thoroughly enjoyed the event and contributed generously in support of the two worthy causes.
We are delighted to report that the total amount raised from both events is £5,155. This will be distributed as follows: 70% (£3,608) to MND and 30% (£1,547) to SCS.
